How it works

Core engagement programme

Our multi award-winning student engagement programme supports students to take environmental and social sustainability behaviours and introduces life-long sustainable habits. The programme can be delivered under the Green Campus Revolution name, or as part of your own sustainability branding, it builds your students’ sustainability literacy, enhancing their skills and experience, mobilising them to lead on sustainability, and delivering energy, waste and water reduction in halls of residences or on campus.

We deliver engaging on-campus activities, train and support student volunteers and run online communications.

Recycling audits

Recycling audits provide a visual check of all bins in halls of residence shared kitchens to give you a greater understanding on recycling habits and to feedback to students on their performance.

  • Communal waste bins are audited by paid trained students (payments at the real living wage are included in the fee).
  • Bins are scored to ascertain levels of contamination and record key data.
  • Feedback is shared with students on their performance, with high-scoring kitchens receiving Fairtrade chocolate.
  • An audit report presents scores, waste trends and key recommendations.

SOS UK can deliver the audits either in conjunction with a full Green Campus Revolution Programme or as a stand-alone option. The cost includes all materials, incentives and student payments.
