As part of the Student Energy Action for Life project, SOS UK are running training called ‘Leading Change: Energy Efficiency & Action Training’, which is aimed at helping Sabbatical Officers, SU campaign coordinators and advisors, and University staff who work in sustainability or housing-related projects to learn about the best ways to help students to navigate the home energy market, and where to signpost students to for support.
It will detail recommended campaigning techniques for Sabbatical Officers to transfer to their own Unions, who can then be supported directly by SOS UK staff to run housing campaigns to improve energy efficiency and quality of private-rented student housing. We have also created bespoke resources and campaigning materials for attendees to take away to make some of the campaign planning a little easier for you if you are new to students’ unions or student-facing campaigning.
This training will be run in collaboration with National Energy Action (NEA), who are the UK’s leading fuel poverty charity. They will provide an introduction to Domestic Energy Awareness to help attendees to upskill their knowledge on home energy efficiency.
This training will be running 3 times per year – in the Spring, Summer and Autumn of every calendar year – so you can register your interest for the sessions to be contacted about information for future sessions!
