Education and action on climate change - UK general public perspectives

Respondents were asked about education and climate change, including their own action on the issue. The questions were included in an omnibus survey conducted by Opinium Research.

The survey was conducted in November 2023 and had 2000 respondents, all UK adults. The results are weighted to be nationally representative.

Key findings include:

  • 47% of UK adults don’t recall being taught about climate change when they were at school
  • Just 22% think education today is preparing children and young people for climate change
  • Improved air quality and health is seen as the most important benefit that may result from government action to tackle climate change (41% selected this co-benefit)
  • 77% say they are concerned about climate change
