Students in further and higher education were asked about their behaviours related to purchasing electronic items, and alternatives such as reuse and rental schemes.
Just over 1000 students responding to our online survey told us...
Around a quarter say it is very much like them to fix or repair things they own rather than throw away or buy a replacement (24%).
A third (34%) say they look for things that will be long lasting when buying things like electronics or clothes.
Over half of respondents (56%) said they would be interested in rental, repair and maintenance services for electronic goods used during the academic year.
The majority (45%) of respondents say they spent £250 or less on new items to take with them when they started university.
