Want to improve catering on your campus?
We're really excited to be partnering with the Soil Association to help you improve the quality of food served across your campus.
Since 1946, the Soil Association has been the UK's leading advocate of organic farming and quality, healthy food.
This is something NUS and students' unions have been working towards too, through on-campus food growing programmes like Student Eats, as well as the behaviour change work of Green Impact.
Food is an incredibly important part of a sustainable lifestyle, and that's why we're proud to be partnering with the Soil Association to bring you the Food For Life Catering Mark.
What's the catering mark?
The Catering Mark provides independent endorsement that food providers are taking steps to improve the food they serve, using fresh ingredients which are free from trans fats, harmful additives and GM, and better for animal welfare.
The Soil Association work with caterers in education and healthcare settings, workplaces and visitor attractions across the UK to ensure the quality of over 1.6 million meals served every day.
And now that includes Green Impact participants.
Why get involved?
Not only do you help staff and students access high quality, environmentally friendly food, but there's some great benefits if you want to get involved.
Any campus operating or working towards the NUS Green Impact Catering Tab from July 2016, will be uniquely placed to easily transition over to the robust standards of the Catering Mark, developed by Soil Association Certification.
In order to encourage caterers on this journey, we have a very special offer for anyone taking part in the Green Impact Catering Tab who would like to achieve a Catering Mark for their food service:
First time applicants to the Catering Mark will be entitled to 10% off the first annual fee or 10% off Catering Mark support.
In addition to this, applying for the Catering Mark will unlock an enhanced range of Green Impact support, allowing wider engagement across the campus community, including:
- Good practice webinars and network calls
- Student facing workshops for courses and societies
- Students' union training
- Student training for Green Impact delivery
To take advantage of the offer, simply quote 'Green Impact' when you submit your Catering Mark application and indicate whether you would like a fee discount or discounted support.
