Mock COP26 begins in one month!
One of the exciting new campaigns that SOS-UK is hosting is Mock COP26 - a fully youth-led and inclusive online climate conference to fill the void of the postponed COP26 talks. Our Mock COP26 conference aims to put pressure on global leaders to drive ambitious climate action, and raise ambition for COP26 in November 2021.
Mock COP26 begins on 19th November and the team is working hard behind the scenes to ensure the conference is a success. As well as more than 200 volunteers, we have a team of 18 youth event coordinators across 6 continents who are working part-time alongside their studies and other campaigns. These roles are key to driving the event and will be supporting delegates and putting together the global statement to send a clear and united message to global leaders. Event coordinators will be supported and mentored by SOS-UK staff to develop their own skills and take ownership over this global event. We are currently running a "meet the staff" series on social media so you can learn more about each of our event coordinators: follow on Instagram and Facebook to see more.
We are still actively seeking funding to make Mock COP26 happen and ensures it has a lasting impact. Our Crowdfunder is live and has reached nearly 75% of our total £15,000 target. With just 15 days left on the Crowdfunder campaign, you can help us by sharing with your networks: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/mockcop26.
You can find out more about Mock COP26 by following the campaign's social media (@mockcop26 on twitter and Instagram) or visiting the website www.mockcop.org. If there is anything else you can support with (such as press opportunities, providing scientific fact-checking support to our delegates or translating the event to make it more accessible) please get in touch with hello@mockcop.org.
