Divestment from fossil fuels is one of the most rapidly spreading social justice campaigns in history, and NUS has proudly supported it since 2014. This year, we conducted research which found that:
- Nearly half of students agree that their institution should divest from fossil fuels
- Less than 10 per cent actively disagree that their institution should divest
These numbers show the growing support for divestment among students in the UK, shaping a movement at the forefront of the fight to keep 80 per cent of fossil fuels in the ground.
